Speaking at the Plenary Session of the Congreso de los Diputados [Lower House of Parliament], the President of the Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, defended his opinion that Spain must conclude its transition to a new, more competitive and more efficient production model as soon as possible because the welfare and future of the country depends on it.
7/12/2010. José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero congratulated the Spanish National Football Team at the Palacio de La Moncloa following their return home after being crowned world champions on Sunday night in South Africa.
7/6/2010. Speaking before the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the President of the Government highlighted the achievement of reaching priority objectives during the six-month Spanish rotating Presidency of the European Union: implementation of the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty; a response to the economic and financial crisis; and the strengthening of Europe’s presence in the rest of the world.
At their meeting in La Moncloa, the President of the Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, and the President of Syria, Bashar Al-Assad, discussed various topics fundamentally related to the “crucial” situation in the Middle East region.

At the G-20 Summit held in Toronto, the President of the Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, defended the fiscal adjustment measures approved by Spain and other European countries aimed at reducing the public deficit, as well as the labour market reform and the new savings banks act currently being discussed with the Partido Popular.
